The GM South Africa Foundation - previously the Delta Foundation - is
not a grant making organization. The Foundation follows a process of
undertaking the project management of innovative education and housing
projects in the Eastern Cape, usually within the Nelson Mandela Bay
area, and writing up all the lessons learnt in the form of practical
implementation guidelines. This information is then shared with
interested organizations across the country in order to promote the
replication of successful new development models and to influence the
State in the formulation of practical policies.
The majority of schools in South Africa do not have English as the home language of their learners. In our primary schools home language is used as the language of learning and teaching (LOLT) until the end of Grade 3. In Grade 4 (except in Afrikaans schools) the LOLT changes from home language to English.
